In conjunction with its partnership for the Broadway musical “Hamilton,” which will be presented in San Juan in January 2019 at the University of Puerto Rico’s Teatro UPR, Marriott International said it would make a minimum donation of $300,000 to Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Flamboyan Arts Fund.

The fund is part of the Flamboyan Foundation that is working to rebuild art and culture on the island in the year since Hurricane Maria made landfall on Puerto Rico, knocking out power to the entire island and leaving a large swath of the U.S. territory without clean water.

For every room booked at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, AC Hotel by Marriott San Juan Condado, and St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Marriott will donate $1. In addition, the hotelier will donate $10 for every room booked at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve.

Miranda, who is of Puerto Rican descent, will reprise the leading role as Alexander Hamilton during the show’s run in San Juan.
