Alaska Airlines provided data on the activities of its Mileage Plan frequent-flyer program members for the year 2018.

Mileage Plan members took 19 million flights on Alaska and its partner airlines in 2018. The airline singled out one member, Richard, who flew 338,480 miles in 2018 alone.

In addition the airline reported on the top destinations that frequent-flyer program members booked for award travel. They were Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego, Portland, and Los Angeles. San Francisco, Orange County, and Juneau were also some of the most popular.

Alaska underscored the fact that members of its frequent-flyer program earn miles based on actual miles flown, despite an industry trend towards awarding miles based on the cost of a plane ticket.

“We love rewarding our members with miles based on how far they fly – not just how much they spend,” said Ryan Butz, the airline’s managing director of customer loyalty.
