Air Canada opened its newest Maple Leaf Lounge Monday night with a reception for members of the press and invited guests.  It opens to the public Tuesday morning and is conveniently situated near the airline’s three departure gates.

Unlike the airline’s previous loungeat LaGuardia, the new lounge is after the security checkpoint.

The lounge is located in the newly built replacement Central Terminal building at LaGuardia Airport that opened Saturday and is the first airline lounge to open in that concourse. The décor mixes a Canadian design sensibility with New York character. It includes maple wood screen walls and Canadian-made furniture plus commissioned artwork that represents both regions.

The 7,015-square-foot (652-square-meter) lounge provides seating for 126.  The seating areas were designed to enhance privacy and personal space and many seats have excellent tarmac views.  Electric outlets are accessible everywhere as is the fast and free Wi-Fi. Travelers are welcome to use the cyber counter that features PCs and laser printers.

Amenities include a self-service bar with a wide selection of Canadian wines and beer, Lavazza coffee, and light snacks.
