Virgin Group and Brightline, a passenger rail company, announced the formation of Virgin Trains USA.

The U.K. company said it will make a minority investment in the company, and Brightline will license the Virgin brand.

Brightline’s goal is to “leverage Virgin’s industry-leading expertise and customer experience.”

“We transformed domestic air travel with Virgin America,” said Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin, who added that “tens of millions of Americans travel on the railways every day, and we have tried for over a decade to find an opportunity to provide them with that same excellent service experience.”

Brightline currently operates passenger rail service between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach and plans to expand to Orlando and Tampa. In addition, as part of its previously announced plans to acquire XpressWest, it will construct a railway connecting Las Vegas with Southern California next year.
