DSC_0915 (1)WestJet announced a refresh of its brand along with details of its new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

The news was announced at an event in downtown Calgary.

The 787-9 Dreamliners will be based in Alberta at Calgary International Airport. The airline is outfitting them with 320 seats including 16 lie-flat business class seats and 24 seats in premium economy.

“WestJet is investing in Alberta to bring further economic growth, boost tourism to the province, and to further position our city as an international aviation hub,” said Ed Sims, the airline’s president.

The business-class seats will be private pods while the premium economy seats will be recliners.

The first three Dreamliners will be deployed on routes linking Calgary to Dublin, London, and Paris, starting next year.

The updated brand image is intended to herald WestJet’s global ambitions and its focus on new products and the premium traveler.

“We’ve always charted our own path, a little west of center,” the airline says in a commercial showing off the new brand.
