Two Roads has multiple properties in Chicago.

Hyatt Hotels announced on Monday it will acquire Two Roads Hospitality, an independent hotel management company, for $480 million.  The world’s sixth largest hotel company said it has the option to invest an additional $120 million into the deal, although the company said that it is “on the outcome of certain terms to be individually defined after closing.”

Two Roads currently has management agreements for 85 properties in eight countries and Hyatt will acquire the majority of those agreements. The company was formed in 2016 with the merger of Destination Hotels and Commune Hotels + Resorts. Its brands include Joie de Vivre Hotels, Thompson Hotels, Destination Hotels, tommie, and Alila Hotels & Resorts.

“Two Roads’ passionate team members, strong brands, global footprint and robust development pipeline will expand our lifestyle offerings and grow Hyatt’s brand presence in more places where our guests and World of Hyatt members want to travel,” said Mark Hoplamazian, Hyatt’s CEO.

Hyatt said it will bring Two Roads properties and its lifestyle brands together in a “dedicated lifestyle division” following the merger.

Once the transaction closes, Hyatt plans to expand the Two Roads brand presence into 23 new markets. Members of Hyatt’s guest loyalty program, World of Hyatt, will be eligible to earn and redeem rewards with stays at Two Roads properties.
