The Category 2 storm is currently over the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to intensify before making landfall.

“Hurricane Michael is forecast to be the most destructive storm to hit the Florida Panhandle in decades,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott on Tuesday.

Airlines are issuing travel waivers for destinations that are expected to be in the path of Michael, and mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders have been issued in the region including Mobile, Alabama; Panama City, Florida; Pensacola, Florida; and Tallahassee, Florida.
