Delta Reports Record September, with Increase in Traffic and Capacity

Delta Air Lines announced operational results for September 2018. The airline carried 15.2 million passengers in the month, a record for the month of September.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 18.3 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 3.7%, up from 17.65 billion in September 2017. Domestic traffic rose 5.4%, while international traffic rose 1.1%.

Total system-wide capacity for the month also increased, up 4.7% to 21.9 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 20.92 billion last year. The airline’s domestic capacity was up 6.4%, while international capacity rose by 4.2%.

The airline reported a system-wide load factor of 83.6%, a year-over-year drop of 0.8 percentage points from 84.4% last year.
