Norwegian Reports Jump in Traffic, Capacity for August
Norwegian Air announced operational results for August 2018. The Fornebu, Norway-based carrier reported it carried 3.62 million passengers for the month, a 10% year-over-year increase over the 3.28 million it reported for August 2017.
The airline’s total passenger traffic for the month, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, was up 31% over the same period in 2017, with a 33% increase in available seat kilometers, or ASKs.
Norwegian’s consolidated load factor for August was 89.6%. Its long-haul division reported a load factor of 94%.
The airline said that it is continuing to update its fleet and that it added one Boeing 737 Max 8 in August. For 2018, the carrier will have taken delivery of 11 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, 12 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, and two Boeing 737-800 jets.
