IMG_8924Los Angeles International Airport said that, effective the first of the year, it will allow passengers with small amounts of marijuana to travel through the airport.

“In accordance with Proposition 64, the Los Angeles Airport Police Department will allow passengers to travel through LAX with up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana,” the airport said in a statement.

Proposition 64 allows individuals who are 21 years of age or older to possess up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana provided it is for personal consumption.

While several airports including Portland International and Spokane International allow passengers to transit with small amounts of weed, this is only the case when traveling within the state.
