InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of the InterContinental San Diego.

The new 400-room property is in the downtown area overlooking the bay, located on the grounds of Lane Field, the home of the minor league San Diego Padres baseball team from 1936 through 1957. All rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and many have views of the bay.

Amenities include a rooftop pool, sundeck, and pool bar on the fourth floor; a fitness center with a yoga terrace; and a Club Continental lounge. The new hotel has 35,000 square feet (3,252 square meters) of indoor meeting space and 60,000 square feet (5,574 square meters) of outdoor meeting space.

Vistal, the hotel’s restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers, according to the hotel, a cuisine influenced by the “Baja peninsula, Pacific islands, and Mediterranean fishing villages that have shaped San Diego culture.”

The hotel is near the Gaslamp Quarter, the San Diego Convention Center, and other popular downtown destinations.
