Hyatt to Open 9 New Hotels in Africa

DSC_3287Hyatt announced plans on Thursday to open nine new hotels in Africa over the next two years.

The hotelier will open its first hotels in Algeria, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Senegal with plans that include the Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport, which will open in early 2019; the Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa, which will open at the end of this year; a Hyatt Place and Hyatt House in Nairobi; and a Hyatt Centric in Dakar, which will opening in the first quarter of 2019.

Hyatt will return to Egypt’s capital with the Hyatt Regency Cairo West, expected to open in 2020.  It also plans a new property in Morocco, the Park Hyatt Marrakech, expected to open in 2020, and the Hyatt Regency Taghazout, slated to open in late 2019.

In Tanzania, Hyatt will open the Hyatt Regency Arusha, the third Hyatt-branded property there, in mid-2019.

“Africa, and particularly East Africa, remains a focus for Hyatt with an increasingly favorable business climate and heightened tourism spend,” the company said in a statement.
