InterContinental Hotels Group announced it will open its first Kimpton in the United Kingdom with the debut of the Kimpton Fitzroy London next month.

Formerly the Principal London, a Covivio property, the Kimpton Fitzroy London is located in the city’s Bloomsburg neighborhood in an 1898 building designed by Charles Fitzroy Doll, an English architect of the Victorian and Edwardian eras who designed the nearby Hotel Russell, the Imperial Hotel in Russell Square (now demolished), and the dining room in the RMS Titanic.

The hotel will offer 334 guest rooms, some with books the hotelier says should “channel the creative energy” of Virginia Woolf and other writers who called Bloomsbury home.

The Kimpton Fitzroy London will feature three restaurants including Neptune, the Palm Court, and Burr & Co., a coffeehouse. Fitz’s, a cocktail bar, maintains the bar’s original stained glass windows and early 20th century décor and will serve libations that the hotel says will pay tribute to Bloomsbury’s past and present.
