IMG_2090Passengers on Emirates Flight 203 were briefly quarantined at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York after as many as 100 people said they had fallen ill while in flight.

The passengers and several crew members “complained of illness including cough and some with fever,” said the Centers for Disease Control in a statement.

The aircraft, an Airbus A380, landed at 9:15 a.m. local time and was sent to a remote area of the airport, where it was met by CDC officials and emergency responders.

“On arrival, as a precaution, they were attended to by local health authorities. All others will disembark shortly,” the airline said in a statement.

Although the cause remains unknown, 19 people were ultimately determined to be sick, although nine refused further medical attention. There were over 500 people on the flight including passengers and crew members.
