Marriott International announced the opening of the W Xi’an in China.

The 861,000-square-foot (80,000-square-meter) property is in the Qujiang District and is the largest W to open in the Asia Pacific region.  The building, designed by AB Concept, stands in the shape of a W as part of the W Five Park complex and is visible in the city’s skyline.

The hotel has 385 guest rooms and suites that were designed to represent Xi’an culture, the hotelier said.  The rooms include signature peach motif W pillows, spacious balconies with accessible minibars, and the brand’s signature W mattresses.

The W Xi’an also features five labyrinths inspired by the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties.

Xi’an is considered by many to be the birthplace of Chinese civilization and was a major stop along the Silk Road.
