Southwest Sees Increase in July Traffic and Capacity, Drop in Load Factor

Southwest Airlines announced operational results for July 2018.
The carrier reported an increase in capacity and traffic, while its load factor fell slightly.
The airline’s total system traffic was 12.62 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 2.1% from 12.36 billion RPMs in July 2017. The company reported a total system capacity of 14.62 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 3.2% from 14.16 billion the previous July.
Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month dropped by 1 percentage point to 86.3%.
The airline reported it carried 12.6 million passengers in the month, an increase of 2.1% over 12.4 million in July 2017.
