An electrical failure at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport disrupted flight operations late Wednesday evening, effectively leaving the airport in the dark.

“We are aware of an airport wide power outage and investigating. Updates to follow,” the airport said on Twitter shortly after the outage occurred.

The power in the terminal went off shortly before 10 p.m. local time. Runway lights were reported to be working, however.

Flights continued to arrive and depart but the lack of any computer systems slowed down arrivals and departures.

Backup power was turned on in several areas of the airport by 10:30 p.m. and full power was restored around 11:13 p.m.

“Power is restored to the airport and some systems are coming back online,” the airport said in a tweet.
