When LaGuardia Airport’s new Central Terminal opens to passengers, it will have the world’s first in-airport FAO Schwarz toy store in addition to a variety of other shops and restaurants.

FAO Schwarz was founded in 1852 and is the oldest toy store in the United States by Frederick August Otto Schwarz. The company has changed hands multiple times in the past half century.

The new store is being developed by the Hudson Group, an airport retail company. Hudson Group will operate several other stores including a McNally Jackson bookshop.

Last month, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the new Central Terminal will have six dining establishments representing the tastes of New York and New Yorkers. The list includes Shake Shack and Irving Farm Coffee Roasters as well as 5 Boroughs Food Emporium; Kingside; Osteria Fusco, operated by chef Scott Conant; and La Chula, operated by Chef Julian Medina.
