Aloft to Encourage Guests to Sing in the Shower

Marriott International’s Aloft Hotels brand, in conjunction with Universal Music Group, announced Project: Aloft Star, a vocal competition.

To support the project, Aloft is setting up shower audio recording booths in several hotels in Europe where guests will be able to show off their talents. The booths will be installed at Aloft properties in Brussels, London, Kiev, and Munich.

“Showers are synonymous with singing,” said John Licence, a Marriott vice president, in announcing the competition.

Unsigned artists from Belgium, Germany, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom are eligible to enter by uploading an original song to the competition’s website on or before August 27.

At the end of August, the public in those five countries will be invited to vote on their favorites to select the top three acts per country. The three semi-finalists from each country will compete to go onto the finals, which will take place on November 15 in Munich.

The winner will be invited to release a single through UMG, which will also produce a music video of the winning song and provide mentoring.
