Alaska Air Traffic and Capacity Climb in July
Alaska Air Group announced operational results for July 2018. The carrier saw a rise in traffic and capacity, as well as in its load factor for the month.
System-wide traffic for Alaska Air Group, expressed in revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, increased by 7.6% year-over-year, up to 5.24 billion RPMs compared to 4.86 billion in July of 2017.
Capacity was 5.97 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 6.8% from 5.59 billion ASMs.
System-wide load factor for the month was 87.7% a .7 percentage point increase from 87% in July 2017.
The figures include flights operated by Alaska Airlines including legacy Virgin America routes, as well as those operated by Horizon Air and under third-party capacity purchase agreements.
In addition, on April 25 of this year, Alaska Airlines merged all Virgin America customer-facing operations such as selecting flights and checking in, with its own. Customers now use Alaska’s website, mobile app, and airport kiosks exclusively when traveling.
