T-Mobile USA announced two changes to its Simple Global international roaming program.

The mobile operator is raising the price per minute of calls from and within most countries outside the United States to 25 cents per minute, up five cents from 20, which has been the cost for the past several years. This also applies to calls from those countries to the United States, although those made via the Wi-Fi calling feature will continue to be free.

In addition, the company added 55 countries to its list of countries where T-Mobile customers get free data roaming, bringing the total to 210.

Travelers need to be aware that Apple deprioritized the Wi-Fi calling feature with the release of iOS 11.3. Although the iPhone is supposed to prioritize the use of Wi-Fi calling when roaming internationally, Frequent Business Traveler recommends turning on Airplane mode and then turning on Wi-Fi. “T-Mobile WiFi” should then be visible next to the reception bars.
