Mazda announced plans to offer Apple CarPlay along with Android Auto in Mazda6 sedans.

The feature will be available in all Mazda6 models except the base Sport version.

Starting in September, the option will be installed by dealerships prior to delivery. In November, new Mazda6 vehicles will arrive at the dealership with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support already installed at the factory.

The automaker is making a free upgrade available to 2018-model-year Mazda6 owners. The upgrade will also include the installation of a more powerful 2.1 amp USB port as well as an updated version of Mazda Connect.

Mazda is one of the last automakers in the United States to announce support for CarPlay. Lexus and Toyota announced their support for the platform in January 2018.
