Hyatt Regency Budapest to Open in Historic Former Post Office Building

Hyatt Hotels announced plans for its first Hyatt Regency hotel in Budapest.

The new property will be located in the eclectic Postapalota, a turn of the century building with Gothic towers, Renaissance motifs, and Art Nouveau tiles that was designed by Gyula Sándy. It is located on Petőfi Sándor Street near the Váci utca, a major shopping street.

“We are delighted to bring this landmark building back to life,” said the developer, Városház Utca Projekt Ingatlanforgalmazó, in a statement.

The 231-room hotel will offer guests a gym, indoor swimming pool, and spa. The hotel’s bar and restaurant will be located in the historic building’s inner courtyard.

Expected to open in 2020, the Hyatt Regency Budapest will offer a 4,197-square-foot (390-square-meter) ballroom and over 6,673 square feet (619 square meters) of meeting space.
