Delta Reports Increase in Traffic and Capacity for June

DSC_5025Delta Air Lines announced operational results for June 2018.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 21.48 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a 3% increase from 20.83 billion RPMs in June 2017. Domestic traffic rose 5.1%, from 12.45 billion RPMs to 13.08 billion RPMs, while international traffic fell to 8.37 billion RPMs, a 0.01% decline from 8.38 billion RPMs the previous June.

Total system-wide capacity for the month rose to 24.23 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 23.53 billion ASMs, a 3% increase. The airline’s domestic capacity was 14.87 billion ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 5.3% from 14.11 billion in June 2017, while international capacity fell by 0.5% year-over-year, down to 9.36 billion ASMs from 9.41 billion last year.

Load factor for the month was 88.5%, unchanged from last June. Delta’s domestic load factor decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 88% from 88.2%, while its international load factor rose by 0.3 percentage points to 89.4% from last year’s 89.1%.
