IMG_4326 (1)Alaska Airlines announced a new menu for coach passengers that emphasizes local ingredients from the Pacific Northwest and what it termed healthy “West Coast staples.”

The airline also said it will rotate its coach offerings quarterly.

The menu will include such items as artichokes, asparagus, avocado, berries, and tomatoes as well as artisan bread and cage-free eggs. The airline is also planning to offer a selection of craft beer and, in the fall, will debut a new wine menu.

“We believe in offering our guests locally-inspired food options made with fresh and healthy ingredients,” said Sangita Woerner, the airline’s vice president of marketing.

For breakfast, options in the current rotation will include a platter with Greek yogurt, almonds, fruit, a hard-boiled egg, and turkey. Lunch and dinner options will include a turkey artichoke baguette and, on transcontinental and Hawaii flights only, a cobb salad.
