Marriott to Transform Sheraton Grand Phoenix into a Model for the Sheraton Brand

Marriott International announced plans to transform the Sheraton Grand Phoenix hotel into what it termed “a cutting-edge model for the Sheraton brand.”

The Bethesda-based hotelier said it had acquired the 33-story, thousand-room property in order to renovate it as part of its $500 million program to upgrade and bolster the Sheraton brand.

“The hotel will provide a living and breathing showcase of our new vision for the Sheraton brand,” said Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson.

Going forward, the hotel will become a showcase for Sheraton’s focus on services and design that enable “socialization, productivity, and personalization” the company said.

The Sheraton Grand Phoenix, which opened in 2008, provides over 77,000 square feet (7,153 square meters) of meeting and event space, an outdoor pool with poolside bar, and a fitness center among other amenities.

Renovations are scheduled to commence in 2019.
