JetBlue Sees Increase in Traffic, Capacity, and Load Factor for May

IMGP5613 (1)JetBlue Airways announced operational results for May 2018. The carrier said that its total traffic, capacity, and load factor were all up for the month.

The New York-based airline’s passenger traffic was 4.34 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a year-over-year increase of 8.9% from 3.98 billion RPMs in the same period last year.

JetBlue’s capacity also increased by 7.6% to 5.06 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 4.70 billion ASMs in May 2017.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s passenger load factor for the month was 85.8%, up 1.1 percentage points from 84.7% last May.

The airline said it expects Q2 revenue per available seat mile, or RASM, to decline between 2.5% and 0.5% compared to Q2 2017, citing holiday timing, a lower completion factor, and co-brand incentive payments as the reason for the decline.
