Marriott International announced the reflagging of the Bahia Grand Panama Hotel in Panama City, formerly the Trump Ocean Club, as the JW Marriott.

The hotel opened in 2011 and was the first international development by the Trump Organization. It is located in the tallest building in Central America, a 70-story, 2,500,000-square-foot (230,000-square-meter) mixed use waterfront condominium.

The JW Marriott’s 369 rooms average 600 square feet (56 square meters) and many offer views of the Gulf of Panama. It has three restaurants, a bar, Cava 15, a pool deck, and meeting and event space.

The hotel was managed by the Trump Organization until March 2018, when it became the center of a major ownership dispute that turned ugly.  Within a few days, the hotel’s owner, Orestes Fintiklis, took possession of the hotel and removed the Trump name from it, following an order from a Panamanian court permitting him to do so.
