Hundreds of American Airlines flights were cancelled on Thursday and Friday when PSA Airlines, an American regional carrier, encountered a “technical issue” that grounded its fleet, inconveniencing thousands of travelers.

The problem “caused them to cancel their flights for the remainder of the evening,” American said in a tweet on Thursday.  The airline did not say what the issue was, however.

The carrier said it is trying to accommodate passengers on other airlines in the meantime. Passengers voiced their dissatisfaction on social media.

“Thousands of travelers are still stranded at @CLTAirport this morning after more than 100 flights were canceled,” said one passenger, Mark Barber, on Twitter.

The cancellations affected passengers at Charlotte Douglas International Airport the most, although operations at other airports were disrupted as well.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport said on Twitter that it expects PSA and American to resume operations at noon.

“PSA plans to resume their operations at 12 p.m. ET on June 15.”
