DSC_0762InterContinental Hotels Group announced a deal with Foncière des Régions to rebrand and manage 13 hotels in the United Kingdom as well as plans to launch a new upscale hotel brand in the coming year.

The list of hotels includes the Principal London, the Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square, the Principal Edinburgh George Street, the Principal York, De Vere Oxford Thames, the Grand Birmingham, and the Principal Manchester. In total it includes over 2,000 hotel rooms.

The deal will put IHG in the position of being “the leading luxury hotel operator in the UK,” it said in a statement.

The hotelier plans to rebrand the properties as either InterContinentals, Kimptons, or with the new brand.

Hotels that are part of the new brand, yet unnamed, “will provide high-quality representation for the brand in IHG’s largest market within the Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa region, where it will initially be launched.”
