Hotel Review: San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront
The nicely designed and cozy M Club Lounge – open 24 hours a day – offers a continental breakfast until 10 a.m. and hors d’oeuvres in the evening. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day. I found not one but two surprises in the M Club Lounge. At breakfast, next to the more traditional juices, there was a puzzling coconut-shaped dispenser. In it was Pineapple-Sage Mind Defogger, made using Clif Clark, the general manager’s recipe. Pineapple, he reminded me, is the international symbol for hospitality and this luscious drink is a combination of pineapple juice and sage and almond milk.
In the evening, next to an array of tasty macaroons, I found hot La La Milk, an “evening ritual” borrowed from the general manager’s home that includes ginger, vanilla, turmeric, clove, and cinnamon.
WELLNESS
While the 0.1-mile (0.16-kilometer) walk to my room from the elevator was a good start, I also found a well-equipped gym with free weights and cardio equipment. Between multiple trips back and forth as well as several miles in the course of my trip, I felt well looked after.
The hotel also has a lovely indoor pool that is open until 11 p.m., although I didn’t have the opportunity to go swimming this time around.
DINING
The hotel’s restaurant, Hangar Steak, offers a complete breakfast in the morning although I breakfasted in the M Club Lounge. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner and features great views of the bay and runway.
Flights 101 Lobby Lounge offers cocktails and snacks, also with great views, while there’s also a Starbucks in the lobby for those who require a quick caffeine fix.
BOTTOM LINE
The combination of a comfortable room, great lounge, accommodating staff, and proximity to the airport made for a great stay. The water and runway views were simply a bonus.
