DSC_5000Delta Air Lines announced that it will begin new service from the United States to Mumbai next year. The service will be the carrier’s first to the country in over three years.

The airline last flew to India on a New York JFK-Amsterdam-Mumbai route on March 28, 2015. On that date, the carrier discontinued the Mumbai portion of the route.

The service is subject to government approval, and Delta said that details on the schedule will be released later in the year.

The airline also said that it plans to expand its codeshare with Jet Airways to offer convenient connections to other Indian destinations. The expansion is also subject to government approval.
