Aeromexico Sees Large Rise in Traffic, Capacity

IMG_8600 (1)Aeromexico announced operational results for April 2018.  The Mexico City-based carrier saw a significant increase in traffic and capacity as well as load factor.

The airline’s total passenger traffic for the month was 3.48 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, an increase of 9.5% from 3.18 billion RPKs in the same month last year.  On the domestic side of operations, the carrier reported 1.04 million RPKs, a 4.2% increase from last year’s 999 million RPKs, while on the international side, it reported 2.44 billion RPKs, an 11.9% increase compared to 2.18 billion RPKs in April 2017.

The carrier had a total capacity of 4.23 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, a 10.6% increase from 3.82 billion ASKs in April of last year.  The airline’s domestic capacity was 1.22 billion RPKs, which represented a 0.2% decrease over last year’s 1.23 billion RPKs, while international capacity rose, by 15.7% to 3 billion RPKs, compared to 2.59 billion RPKs in the same period in 2017.

The airline’s total load factor for April decreased by 0.8 percentage points, down to 82.3% from last year’s 83.1%. Aeromexico had an 84.9% domestic load factor, which was 3.6 percentage points higher than last year’s 81.3%, while the carrier’s international load factor was 81.3%, down 2.7 percentage points from 84% in April of 2017.
