DSC_5820Virgin Hotels announced plans to open a new property in Las Vegas late next year. The hotel will be the first land-based casino for the company.

The hotelier purchased the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in a transaction finalized Sunday, and said it will remodel the property and reopen it as the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

The hotel will offer 1,504 guestrooms, which the company refers to as “chambers,” including various “grand chamber suites,” and “penthouse suites.” The property will also host a 60,000-square-foot (5,574-square-meter) casino.

The property will provide new nightlife venues, restaurants, and lounges, as well as multiple pools.

The hotel will continue to operate as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino while its guestrooms, restaurants, casino, and public areas are renovated, until that work has been completed and it reopens as a Virgin Hotels property.
