Southwest Inaugurates Multiple New Routes from Bay Area

DSC_0495Southwest Airlines said it had commenced service on 11 new routes from the Bay Area and West Coast on Sunday. The new routes include San Jose to Boise, Houston, St. Louis, and New Orleans; San Francisco and Sacramento to Austin; and Oakland and San Diego to Newark.

In addition, the airline inaugurated three other routes on Sunday including Ft. Lauderdale-Jacksonville, which will operate three times a day; Raleigh/Durham-Kansas City, Missouri; and non-stop service on Sundays between Austin and Indianapolis.

The airline also plans to add multiple new flights over the coming weekend, including Columbus and New Orleans to Cancun; Saturday service between Orlando and Oakland, which will be operated daily starting June 15; Saturday service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Phoenix; and seasonal Saturday service between Orlando and Oklahoma City and Kansas City, Missouri and Pensacola.

On Monday, the Dallas-based airline reported an increase in its traffic, capacity, and load factor for the prior month.
