Southwest Airlines Reports Increase in Traffic, Load Factor for March

DSC_0826Southwest Airlines announced operational results for March 2018. As in the prior two months, the carrier reported an increase in its traffic, capacity, and load factor.

The airline’s total system traffic was 11.7 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 3.7% from 11.3 billion RPMs in March 2017.

The carrier reported a total system capacity of 13.8 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 2.4% from 13.4 billion the previous March.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month rose to 85.1%, a record for the month of March, and a 1 percentage point increase from 84.1% in the same period in 2017.
