DSC_0428Lufthansa Group debuted a new seat design that will be installed in coach and business on all new Airbus A320 family aircraft.

Starting in 2019, the seat will be standard on all Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, and Swiss A320 aircraft when deliveries of new A320 family aircraft are scheduled to begin.

The new, ergonomic seats will have several new features designed to enhance comfort, including ergonomic pressure distribution and fully structured seat upholstery. In addition, a horizontal literature pocket will allow for a slimmer seatback, giving passengers greater personal space.

Seatbacks will be at a 20° angle for takeoff and landing and can recline to 26° once the aircraft reaches cruising altitude.

Using a standardized seat will allow Lufthansa to easily transfer aircraft between its airlines without the need to reconfigure the interior.

The seats are manufactured by Geven, an Italian company headquartered in Nola, a town in Naples.  Geven began as an automotive upholstery supplier.

Other Geven customers include Aerolíneas Argentinas, Airbus, Alitalia, Air New Zealand, Boeing, and Brussels Airlines.
