Delta Sees Increase in March Traffic and Load Factor

DSC_5025Delta Air Lines announced operational results for March 2018.

The Atlanta-based carrier’s total system traffic for the month was 18.95 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, a 4.3% increase from 18.17 billion RPMs March 2017.  Domestic traffic rose 4.2%, from 11.72 billion RPMs to 12.22 billion RPMs, while international traffic increased to 6.73 billion RPMs, a 4.3% rise from 6.45 billion RPMs the previous March.

Total system-wide capacity for the month rose to 21.8 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 21.16 billion ASMs, a 3% increase. The airline’s domestic capacity was 14.11 billion ASMs, a year-over-year increase of 4.1% from 13.55 billion in March 2017, while international capacity rose by 1.1% year-over-year, up to 7.69 billion ASMs from 7.61 billion last year.

Load factor for the month was 86.9%, up 1.1 percentage points from 85.8% last March. Delta’s domestic load factor increased by 0.1 percentage points to 86.6% from 86.5%, while its international load factor rose by 2.7 percentage points to 87.5% from last year’s 84.8%.
