DSC_0581 2Amtrak announced new dining options for the Capitol Limited and Lake Shore Limited trains starting June 1.

The new options are for sleeping car passengers and include a breakfast that includes Greek yogurt, a sliced fresh fruit platter, and assorted breakfast breads with jam.  Lunch and dinner selections include a choice of a vegan wrap, chicken Caesar salad, a turkey club sandwich, or chilled beef tenderloin.  A kosher option will also be available.

“Our plan is to provide new and fresh food choices in a contemporary way for these overnight trains,” said Amtrak Long Distance Service Line Vice President Bob Dorsch.

The meals will be served in passenger bedrooms or roomettes as well as taken in a private café or lounge car.  Amtrak will also offer unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and a choice of beer, wine or a mixed drink.

Passengers who book sleeping cars will also receive an Amtrak amenity kit that includes an eyeshade and other items.

The Capital Limited operates daily service between Washington, D.C. and Chicago via Pittsburgh and Cleveland.  The Lake Shore Limited operates daily between Chicago and New York with service to and from Boston.
