Southwest Airlines Reports Record Load Factor for February

DSC_0819Southwest Airlines announced operational results for February 2018. As in the prior month, the carrier reported an increase in its traffic, capacity, and load factor.

The airline’s total system traffic was 9.0 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 3.5% from 8.7 billion RPMs in February 2017.

The carrier reported a total system capacity of 11.1 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 1% from 11 billion the previous February.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month rose to 81%, a record for the month of February, and a 2 percentage point increase from 79% in the same period in 2017.
