An American Airlines pilot was placed under arrest Thursday morning following an incident with a ground agent at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil.

Witnesses told police that the captain grabbed a female ground agent’s neck after a dispute reportedly about the alignment of the jetway to the aircraft prior to boarding.

The Miami-bound flight was delayed 27 hours after the captain was taken into custody. He was charged with “offending the bodily integrity or health of another.”

The airline apologized for the incident and arranged for meals and hotels for passengers on the flight.
