IMG_0360After a global computer outage led to significant flight delays that required passengers to be checked in manually and left call centers unable to assist flyers, Air Canada said its systems were back online as of Monday afternoon.

“The computer and telecommunications issues affecting our operations have been resolved and we apologize for any inconvenience this situation has caused,” said Benjamin Smith, the airline’s president.

Throughout Canada, airports reported congestion and delays due to the problem.

Air Canada “is experiencing a network outage nationwide, and departing passengers are being checked in manually, which is causing a bit of congestion in the terminal,” said Calgary International Airport in a tweet Monday midday.

The airline said it did not yet know the cause of the outage.
