Aeromexico Sees Massive Traffic Increase in February

DSC_0436 2 (1)Aeromexico announced operational results for February 2018.  The Mexico City-based carrier saw a significant increase in traffic and capacity as well as load factor.

The airline’s total passenger traffic for the month was 3.11 billion revenue passenger kilometers, or RPKs, an increase of 19.1% from 2.61 billion RPKs in the same month last year.  On the domestic side of operations, the carrier reported 906 million RPKs, a 5.1% increase from last year’s 862 million RPKs, while on the international side, it reported 2.21 billion RPKs, a 25.9% increase compared to 1.75 billion RPKs in February 2017.

The carrier had a total capacity of 3.96 billion available seat kilometers, or ASKs, a 14.8% increase from 3.44 billion ASKs in February of last year.  The airline’s domestic capacity was 1.11 billion RPKs, which represented a 3.7% decrease over last year’s 1.15 billion RPKs, while international capacity rose, by 14.8% to 2.85 billion RPKs, compared to 2.29 billion RPKs in the same period in 2017.

The airline’s total load factor for February increased by 2.8 percentage points, up to 78.8% from last year’s 75.9%. Aeromexico had an 81.7% domestic load factor, which was 6.8 percentage points higher than last year’s 74.9%, while the carrier’s international load factor was 77.6%, up 1.1 percentage points from 76.5% in February of 2017.
