DSC_0295United Airlines announced plans to offer travelers a selection of Wi-Fi subscription plans starting February 2.

The plans will be available both on a monthly and yearly basis and customers will have a choice of geographic coverage, specifically a plan limited to North America and Central America or a plan offering global coverage.

Travelers will be able to purchase the Wi-Fi subscription with miles or a credit card. Prices for a monthly subscription start at $49 or 7,500 miles.

The Chicago-based airline offers in-flight Internet service on all of its aircraft with the exception of its Guam-based fleet. The airline also offers the service on all two-cabin regional aircraft.

The Wi-Fi service does not support video streaming and United prohibits Voice-over-IP, video, or audio calls.

United had introduced Wi-Fi subscriptions once before, in early 2017, but withdrew them from the market, saying the company wasn’t “fully ready to make them available.”
