Southwest Sees January Traffic Increase

DSC_0495Southwest Airlines announced operational results for January 2018. The carrier reported an increase in its traffic, capacity, and load factor.

The airline’s total system traffic was 9.73 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 4% from 9.35 billion RPMs in January 2017.

The carrier reported a total system capacity of 12.5 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 1.9% from 12.27 billion the previous January.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month rose to 77.8%, a record for the month of January, and a 1.5 percentage point increase from 76.3% in the same period in 2017.
