Airbnb announced two new programs and additional categories for types of listings at a press conference on Thursday in San Francisco.

The new Plus program is intended for travelers who don’t necessarily trust the Airbnb rating system. Airbnb will dispatch inspectors to thousands of properties to ensure that they are as advertised. The inspection is based on a 100-point checklist that covers everything from the comfort of the bed to the speed of the Wi-Fi.

At launch, the Plus program will cover approximately 2,000 properties in 13 cities, namely Austin, Barcelona, Cape Town, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Melbourne, Milan, Rome, San Francisco, Shanghai, Sydney, and Toronto. The full Airbnb catalog covers some 4.5 million properties in 81,000 cities.

Beyond by Airbnb, the company’s luxury category, is for guests “looking for beautiful homes” that have “exceptional hosts,” said Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky. All of the Beyond listings will be verified by the company.

In addition to the new programs, Airbnb is expanding its original three categories – Private Room, Entire Home, and Shared Space – with four new ones, Vacation Home, Unique Space (treehouse, anyone?), bed and breakfast, and Boutique for hotels.
