Air Canada Reports Record Revenue But Lower Profit for 2017

Air Canada announced financial results for the year 2017.

The carrier reported a net income of $1.142 billion, down from $1.147 billion in 2016.

Operating revenue for the period was $16.252 billion, a record for the airline, up from its 2016 figure of $14.677 billion.

Air Canada saw 19.936 million RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, for 2017, up 9.9% from 17.643 billion in 2016. The carrier’s capacity for the year was 24.191 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, a 9.5% increase from 2016’s 22.091 billion. Meanwhile, the load factor was 80.2%, up 0/3 percentage points from 79.9% in 2016.
