Wyndham Hotel Group announced Thursday it would acquire La Quinta Holding’s hotel business.

The New Jersey-based hotelier said it will purchase La Quinta’s hotels for $1.95 billion. The move will add the well-known La Quinta brand and nearly 900 hotels to its portfolio.

The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2018, according to Wyndham. After the closing, Wyndham will have 21 brands, including Ramada, Days Inn, and Super 8.

Wyndham was founded in 1981 by Dallas-based real estate developer Trammell Crow. La Quinta was founded in 1968, also in Texas. Most of its properties were built following Spanish or Southern architecture.
