Lufthansa announced that it will begin offering automated check-in for all flights within Germany and the Schengen area.

Passengers who book tickets up to 24 hours prior to departure will have their boarding passes sent automatically to their smartphones 23 hours prior to departure.

Travelers need to ensure that their information in their Lufthansa Miles and More account or Lufthansa iD profile is current in order to receive the boarding pass automatically.

The automated check-in feature also allows passengers to change seats, cancel their check-in, activate an electronic luggage tag at home, and download eJournals.

Automated check-in also works for passengers traveling on the Lufthansa Express Rail and Bus.
