Southwest Reports Record Load Factor for November

DSC_0016Southwest Airlines announced operational results for September 2017. The carrier reported an increase in its traffic, capacity, and load factor.

The airline’s total system traffic was 10.8 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 3.4% from 10.4 billion RPMs in November 2016.

The carrier reported a total system capacity of 12.6 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 2.5% from 12.3 billion the previous November.

Meanwhile, Southwest’s load factor for the month rose to 85.8%, the carrier’s highest ever for the month of November, and a 0.7 percentage point decrease from 85.1% in the same period in 2016.

In addition, Southwest forecast an increase of as much as 1% to 2% in RASM, or revenue per available seat mile, for the fourth quarter.
